On Saturday 26th July, a Summer Dance Taster Session is being held in Belper for anyone curious about giving morris dancing a go.
Organised by Fleet Arts, this friendly and fun workshop will take place from 2pm to 3.30pm in the Co-Create space inside the Coop on Strutt Street. It’s open to everyone aged 7 and above, so whether you’re a complete beginner or a secret fan of stick-clashing, you’re welcome to join in.
Expect music, footwork, lots of laughter, and of course — clashing sticks and waving hankies.
Tickets are just £5 per adult, and you can bring up to three children free with each paying adult. Tickets are available now via Ticket Source.

More Than Just a Dance – It’s About Community
Workshops like this are more than just an activity; they’re a way to connect with local history and each other. Morris dancing brings people together in a spirit of tradition, fun, and shared culture. In an age of screens and isolation, stepping out (literally!) into a community event like this can be a real breath of fresh air.
Whether you’re in it for the music, the fitness, or the novelty — this summer session is a perfect way to try something different.
